Stafford County Marketplace Coming September 2018

Stafford County Economic Development is excited to announce the timeline for opening the Stafford County Marketplace that will be located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and 5th Avenue in St. John, Kansas. This initiative is a unique partnership in which Stafford County Economic Development, a 501 c(3) non-profit is the developer utilizing support from the City of St. John, US Department of Health and Human Services, NetWork Kansas, Sunflower Foundation, SJN Bank of Kansas, St. John IOOF Lodge, Golden Belt Telephone, and contributions from families in St. John.

White’s Foodliner will be the grocery operator and provide a convenience store aspect and fuel pumps.  In addition, Stafford County Drug will be in the southern portion of the building with drive-thru access.  The building will have two entrances to serve all of three of these aspects.

​Eco Devo hired J.A. Knight & Sons out of Pratt for general contracting services.  Their construction timeline is as follows:

  • Mid-February – Begin Construction with dirt work
  • Beginning of March – Site Utilities and begin pouring concrete foundations
  • Beginning of April – place underground fuel station aspects
  • Beginning of May – metal building erection. 
  • Beginning of June – Interior finish work begins (wall framing, painting, electrical fixtures and devices, flooring, install display cases and shelving, fire system, etc.)
  • Mid-September – White’s Foodliner and Stafford County Drug open for business
