9/11 Service Day
Commitment to Service. AmeriCorps members bring out the best in America by volunteering directly with nonprofit organizations to tackle our nation’s most pressing challenges.
In addition to their regular service, AmeriCorps volunteers participate in national days of service to address unmet community needs, collaborate with others, promote volunteerism and service in local communities, and highlight the difference AmeriCorps members make across the nation. The September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance (9/11 Day), is a chance to help others in tribute to those killed and injured on September 11, 2001, first responders, and the countless others who serve to defend the nation’s freedom at home and around the globe.
Our AmeriCorps VISTAs, Evan and Falon, refurbished the seesaws and firetruck play structure at Brown Memorial Park in St. John to commemorate the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2021.
They will be identifying additional service opportunities for other National Holidays or Days of Remembrance throughout their service years. You might recall that in 2019, Kathleen painted a mural on Main Street in Stafford for her 9/11 Service Day.
