In April, Golden Belt Community Foundation was selected as a participant for the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship and the Aspen Institute’s Rural Economic Development Philanthropy Innovators Network (REDPIN).

Stafford County Economic Development’s Staff member, Carolyn Dunn assisted Golden Belt Community Foundation with their application earlier this year.

Stafford County Economic Development has spent this spring season traveling across the state with two Stafford High School students to present at entrepreneurship challenges.

Stafford County Economic Development invites all Stafford County high school students to participate in the 2nd annual Central Kansas Youth Entrepreneurship Competition (CKYEC) that will be held at the King Center in Jetmore.

The Stafford County Economic Development Photo contest went well.  There were many great photos making the choice difficult!  The judges were Carolyn Dunn-Executive Director for EcoDevo, BreAnn Anshutz-summer Intern for EcoDevo, and Diane Johnson-Stafford County resident. 

The plaster dust was flying in the air on Second and Main Street Tuesday morning, June 21st in St. John.  A group of 27 Bike & Build cyclists from around the U.S. contributed volunteer hours at Gray’s Studio and in the County Annex throughout the day that assisted Stafford County Economic Development in housing project efforts.

On Wednesday, April 13th, Program Director for Stafford County Economic Development, Ashlee Bevan, and Stafford STARS After-School Director, Sharilyn McNickle, took 11 students from the STARS After-School Entrepreneurship class to Wichita for some education and fun.

Get ready for several area high school students to take over St. John on Wednesday, March 2 with business product and/or service ideas!  Stafford County Economic Development, in cooperation with NetWork Kansas, is hosting a Youth Entrepreneurship Competition for adjoining counties that are also classified as a NetWork Kansas E-Community.

Stafford County Economic Development has been awarded a $3,900 grant towards constructing and renovating rental housing to address a severe shortage of modern and affordable workforce housing in a county where the average age of a house is 86 years old…according to the county appraiser.

One of the strategies of Stafford County Economic Development to obtain growth and foster a spirit of entrepreneurship, is to focus on our youth by teaching them the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. There is a world of opportunity out there for them and we want your kids to know that they are not limited in what they can achieve.
