GREAT BEND, Kan. – Golden Belt Community Foundation recently completed the March competitive grant cycle and awarded a total of $21,163. The foundation supports programs or projects that are innovative, collaborative, proactive, measurable and sustainable. Competitive Grant Awards for March, 2016 include:

On Wednesday, April 13th, Program Director for Stafford County Economic Development, Ashlee Bevan, and Stafford STARS After-School Director, Sharilyn McNickle, took 11 students from the STARS After-School Entrepreneurship class to Wichita for some education and fun.

On Friday, January 22nd, the City of St. John and its surrounding communities received news that Kroger would be closing the Dillon’s store in St. John.  This sudden announcement was a huge disappointment.  A grocery outlet is a vital element in a town for many reasons.

Get ready for several area high school students to take over St. John on Wednesday, March 2 with business product and/or service ideas!  Stafford County Economic Development, in cooperation with NetWork Kansas, is hosting a Youth Entrepreneurship Competition for adjoining counties that are also classified as a NetWork Kansas E-Community.
