Our VISTA’s service year has come to an end! Over the past year, Falon Runnebaum’s work has focused on housing and childcare which are crucial for developing a strong and robust workforce.

For the next year, Theresa McLoyd will be working with Stafford County Economic Development (EcoDevo) as an AmeriCorps VISTA. She is originally from Birmingham, Alabama and moved to Johnson County, Kansas in 1995.

The three houses in St. John are taking shape as part of our Praire View Rental Housing! Two at the corner of 1st and Monroe and one on S. Broadway. They will be completed later this fall.

Kathleen talked about St. John’s upcoming Jubilee Celebration May 27-28. She highlighted events happening in the City of Stafford throughout the Summer (Munchie Mondays, Free Movie Wednesdays, and First Fridays). Kathleen also gave updates on childcare, housing, and the port.

The City of St, John has agreed to contribute $65,000 to the Child Care Committee to bring in a modular classroom building that would allow for two daycares to operate out of it. This is enough to secure the building, but more is needed to carry out the project.
